Outerwear – Ya Wouldn’t Be Long Getting Frost Bit

In my house growing up, not being allowed to leave the house without a jacket was a rule strictly enforced. Perhaps this is where my obsession with jackets and coats has stemmed from. For adult me, leaving the house without a jacket is not the issue for me the issue is which jacket to leave the house with (first world problems).

1. The coat

You need a coat that can take you from the glamour of New Years Eve to a funeral. Coats just make your life so easy this time of the year. Nice coat, pair of boots and for all anyone else knows you could be wearing your pyjamas underneath and everyone would still think you were very glam.

I recommend sticking to classic colours like black, navy, grey and camel. This way you’ll be able to get another spin out of it next year as it’s unlikely to go wildly out of trend. It’s all fun and games getting the statement coat of the season until you’re sick of the colour after a month and every hun you know got it for half price in the January sale.

2. Leather

Leather jackets are life. Apart from maybe your wedding dress I can’t think of any outfit a leather jacket doesn’t go with. Ideally I would love an Acne one but for now a Zara one will suffice.

3. Blazer

My favourite go-to look is a print tee, leather trousers, black boots and a blazer, it’s effortlessly stylish. Loving the tartan blazers this season I’m just waiting for the right one to come along..

4. Fur

Bit of a Macklemore thriftshop vibe with this one but I kind of love it. Really cosy and very glam, two things usually hard to achieve in one coat so it’s a winner in my books.

5. Sensible

If I asked you what your favourite coat was and which one you wore most would it be the same answer? Trying to get a balance between practical and stylish is almost impossible. Zara usually come pretty close though.

Happy shopping and as always, thanks for reading,
